Loving Animals

My kitten with a length of string
is jumping through a babbling spring.
She looks at me with eyes of blue
and slaps my foot for a pat or two.
The love she shows as I stroke her soft fur
Is a purr of contentment for loving her.

My dog so spunky, sassy and proud
welcoms my arrival with a chase at the crowd.
He rushes to me and gives my hand a quick lick
And dances in circles as I pitch him a stick.
He loves me I know for in his eyes it shows.
A friendship so moving and flows as it grows.

My birds are so loving and happy to be
In a cage in a room with a window and me.
They whistle and chatter as I walk past their cage
Begging to be held in a flurry of rage.
The love that they show me is soulful and pure
To lose them weighs more than a heart can endure.

When I leave this earth I know I will see
All my animal friends who shared life with me
We'll run throught the heavens with vigor and glee
And play on the moonbeams so happy and free
My family and friends will also be here
In a place where God's love fills the heavens with cheer.
