Transparent Message Box

How To Create A Transparent Message Box

Above is what we are going to be creating!

You will need:

Two elements or tubes
and PSPX

Not sure if this tut will work in previous versions! If you have been to my scrapart site and seen some of the previews of the kits, you may have noticed that some of the previews have a transparent box on them to designate what the preview is of! When I found out how to create this, I thought it was so cool.. :) so here are the steps!

Bring up the elements or tubes you would like to use, then Layers, new raster layer, click on the selection tool, choose rounded rectangle, draw your rectangle somewhere on the image! Flood fill with a gradient of matching colors! Be sure you are on the layer with the message box! Change the opacity to about 65. You won't see the matching ants here, but in psp you will! What you should have is this

step 1

New Raster Layer, Selections, Modify, select selections border, (way at the bottom) I used 2/both sides

step 2

Keep Selected, inner bevel, with these settings

Width - 24
Smoothness - 23
Depth - 3
Ambience - 1
Shininess - 1
Angle - 315
Intensity - 50
Elevation - 30

Inner Bevel Settings

If I were you, I would save the inner bevel setting,
it's one I use all the time to make the elements puffy!

Now it should look like this

step 3

Now all you have to do is New Raster Layer, then choose your favorite font, and write on it. The drop shadow is as follows:

Horizontal 4
Vertical 4
Opacity 23
blur 12
Color black

Merge visible, save as a png, and you are done!

You can snag any selection and add any sized border or
multiples of borders to get a different effect!
I carried the tut a step further and made something else using the same techniques! I used the technique from the "Getting Started" tut on how to "Snag a Selection" for the heart.

another way

I would love to see what my Sweetz group can do with
it, using scrapz of course! :)

If I made a mistake, please let me know, or If you liked
the tut, don't be afraid to say so.. :) hugs Rainy
